Mercedes – Norma Lopez Carabez 58, passed away peacefully February 15, 2021 at her residence in Mercedes. Norma was born September 6, 1962 to Guillermo and Elena Lopez in Mercedes, Texas. She is survived by her sons, José Eliazar (Arlene) Carabez and Jesus Esteban Carabez; daughter, Marlene Victoria Carabez; five grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Norma is also survived by her mother, Elena Montelongo Lopez; brothers, Jose Guillermo (Karla) Lopez, Jr., Hector Lopez, Rolando Lopez, Jose Raul Lopez, and Ubaldo Lopez; sisters, Rosa (Jesus) Torres, Yolanda Castillo, Victoria Carabes, Petra (Hesham) Elnehal, Olivia (Laco) Villarreal, Jr., Maria Del Carmen (Edwardo) Garza, and Elva Maria (John) Garcia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Luis Carabez, father, Jose Guillermo Lopez, Sr., brother, Juan Lopez, and nephew, Jose “Benny” Guillermo Lopez, III
Viewing will be Thursday, February 18, 2021, for the public from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Friday, February 19, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. We will be live-streaming via facebook.com/cardozafuneralhome both the Holy Rosary Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and the burial on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and the links will be here on her webpage.
